Faura Raises $3.5M Seed Round to Transform Climate Risk and Property Insurance
Faura raised a $3.5M Seed round to advance its mission of reducing climate risk and improving property survivability. This round was co-led by Harlem Capital and Building Ventures, with participation from Metaprop, Triple Five, and Dorm Room Fund.
Faura equips insurers with proprietary resilience models that analyse individual structures, pairing them with tailored mitigation plans. This enables underwriters and policyholders to make more informed decisions, creating a feedback loop that rewards policyholders with better benefits while reducing insurer losses.
“Many see properties in wildfire or flood zones as untouchable. We believe there’s a better approach to unlock opportunities for everyone,” said Valkyrie Holmes, Co-founder and CEO of Faura.
Scaling Innovation in Insurance and Climate Risk
Founded in early 2023, Faura has already conducted thousands of property assessments, earning accolades such as winning the State Farm Pitch Competition at InsureTech Connect and the Guidewire InsurPitch, landing them a spot as an InsurTech Vanguard.
The company recently expanded its platform to cover all five natural catastrophe (NATCAT) risks: wildfire, hurricane, hail, flood, and earthquake. With Faura’s tools, underwriters can perform manual or quick assessments to evaluate a property’s survivability across all five perils.
For homeowners, Faura offers a Policyholder Inspection Tool that facilitates accurate self-assessments, enabling them to qualify for discounts, grants, and other benefits based on mitigation work.
“Faura’s tools go beyond measuring survivability; they scale solutions to meet the massive demand for disaster mitigation,” said Amanda Southworth, Co-founder and CTO of Faura. “This funding allows us to address one of the largest solvable challenges of our time.”
This year, Faura is onboarding Tier 1 insurance carriers, managing general agencies (MGAs), and data providers to deliver comprehensive solutions for high-risk property insurance.
“We are incredibly grateful to our team, investors, mentors, and early adopters for believing in this movement. 2025 is the year of growth for Faura. With evolving legislation and shifting climate dynamics, we’re committed to offering not just innovative underwriting but a competitive edge that unites both insurers and policyholders,” said Holmes.
