Kay.ai Launches Autonomous AI Agent to Handle Insurance Back-Office Work at US Brokerages

May 20, 2026

Kay.ai today launched the first fully autonomous AI agent purpose-built for the insurance back office. Kay runs end-to-end inside the systems brokerages and agencies already use – no APIs, no new software for the team to learn. It handles any back-office workflow a customer can document. The agent is already live at leading US brokerages including JMG Insurance Corp, Johnson Insurance, Elliott Insurance Group, running certificates of insurance, endorsement checking, renewal reshops, policy checks, and AMS upkeep.

AI agents just crossed the reliability threshold for long-horizon tasks. Kay has built the proprietary harness that turns that capability into an insurance back office that accurately completes any task across different systems – portals, documents, and email. Each customer’s SOP becomes an Agent Operating Procedure (AOP) that gets executed and improved based on the feedback. Kay handles the rollout – a forward-deployed team works alongside the customer through go-live and the change management that follows.

“Insurance operations is one of the hardest tests for long-horizon computer use agents. Every agency and brokerage works differently, and the cost of mistakes is high,” said Vishal Rohra, CEO, Kay.ai. “The industry has been stuck with a bad tradeoff: either highly paid account managers spend time on data entry, or critical work gets pushed to offshore teams. Kay puts that work on autopilot without forcing agencies to change how they operate.”

Insurance back-office work generates millions of repetitive tasks every day. More than $70 billion of it flows offshore each year, and decades of point-solution software have failed to absorb the rest. AI-native operations is the shift: an agent that reads the email, opens the systems, does the work, and owns the outcome. The same way an employee you hire does, not the way a tool does.

Kay is already saving thousands of hours of manual work for leading U.S. agencies and brokerages, several of which expanded into additional workflows within weeks of going live. “We’ve spent years retraining the same workflows across teams. Kay learned them in weeks and made the process more consistent almost immediately,” said Lindsay Norman JMG Insurance Corp.

Kay is also publishing Inside 500 Insurance Agencies, a free research report drawn from 950+ recorded conversations with leaders at 500+ US independent agencies and brokerages. Inside: the agency archetypes Kay met, the AI myths the industry keeps repeating, and the work that quietly breaks every day.
