Previsico and Snapshot Live add visual intelligence to enhance flood risk forecasting
Previsico, the live flood forecasting insurtech, and Snapshot Live have partnered to integrate live visual monitoring into Previsico’s Flood Intelligence Platform, giving flood risk teams the on-the-ground context that sensor data alone cannot provide.
Snapshot Live’s solar-powered, off-grid cellular cameras are deployed at flood-prone locations and capture images on a schedule or in response to live alerts, with frequency increasing automatically as forecast risk rises. Teams gain immediate visual confirmation of conditions without a site visit: blocked culverts, debris build-up, or deteriorating drainage visible in real time, before an event escalates.
The practical impact is measurable: earlier identification of emerging risks, faster deployment decisions, fewer unnecessary call-outs, and stronger post-event documentation for damage assessment and insurance purposes.
Key customers, such as National Highways, are seeing the immediate benefits of having this combined intelligence to allow them to carry out critical preventative measures.
“Snapshot Live has given our customers a proactive edge, identifying debris build-up in culverts early enough to dispatch maintenance teams before the rain even starts. During active events, having a reliable eye on the ground is invaluable” said Dr Steven Hayward, IoT Systems Manager, Previsico.
“Together we help teams move beyond point-based sensing and gain critical context as flood risk evolves. Seeing is believing and we're delivering that clarity when it matters most” said Roger Poeth, CCO, Snapshot Live.
“The sensors and cameras have allowed us to carry out preventative debris clearance from our structures and reduced the risk of future flooding significantly” said Andrew Simpson, Structures Engineer, National Highways.
